NAS Celebrates Fourways for Excellence in Autism Support
Fourways is proud to announce it has been recognised by the National Autistic Society following a successful Autism Accreditation assessment, marking a significant achievement in the delivery of high-quality, person-centred support for autistic people.
The independent assessment praised the service for the consistency and quality of its practice, stating that “the provision demonstrates standards of excellence in supporting autistic people and sets a benchmark for person-centred, reflective, and evidence-informed practice.” This recognition places Fourways among services demonstrating best practice within autism-specific support .
Putting people at the centre
At the heart of the assessment was Fourways’ commitment to truly individualised support. Assessors highlighted that “support is highly person-centred, tailored to individual abilities, interests, preferences, and challenges,” ensuring that each person is supported to live a life that reflects who they are, what matters to them and what they want to achieve.
This approach enables people to develop independence, confidence and wellbeing, while being actively involved in decisions about their support, daily routines and environments .
Strong partnerships with families
Families and advocates were recognised as valued partners in the support journey. The assessment confirmed that “each autistic person’s communication style is understood and respected, with support that promotes autonomy and meaningful communication.” This inclusive approach helps ensure that families feel listened to, informed and confident in the support their relatives receive.
Assurance for commissioners and partners
From a commissioning and governance perspective, the National Autistic Society’s assessment provided strong assurance. The report noted that “staff have a robust working knowledge of evidence-informed approaches, with embedded Positive Behaviour Support and clear quality assurance systems.” This demonstrates Fourways’ commitment to safe, effective and accountable services underpinned by continuous learning and improvement.
